PwC BERMUDA MARATHON

Sunday, January 19, 2025

7:00am

Start: Royal Naval Dockyard

Finish: Barr’s Bay Park, Pitts Bay Road, Hamilton

In 2020, the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge debuted a new course for the PwC Bermuda Marathon. With the guidance and input of local runners who, collectively, have put in thousands of miles training in Bermuda, the original marathon course from 1975 (consisting of two 13.1-mile loops) was reimagined as a point-to-point running tour of the island.

Now, participants in the PwC Bermuda Marathon embark on an epic adventure beginning with a free ferry ride on marathon morning from downtown Hamilton, across the Great Sound, to the race’s starting point on the west end of the island: the historic Royal Naval Dockyard. On the 26.2 mile journey, you will experience some of Bermuda’s most famous beaches and historic sites, including running across Somerset Bridge (the world’s smallest working drawbridge) and past Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse (one of the first lighthouses in the world to be made of cast-iron).

Don’t worry, though, if you’re not a history fan, we’ve got you covered. Along with the improved scenic views, the marathon course also features two rum stops sponsored by Goslings, as well as a variety of live entertainment and local cheering squads to keep your spirits high as you head to the finish line.

Plus, if you want an extra challenge, you can run 3 races in 3 days as part of the Chubb Full Bermuda Triangle Challenge, which includes the Butterfield Mile, the BF&M 10k, and the PwC Bermuda Marathon. 3 races, 4 medals, and a high-quality Finisher’s Jacket to wear with pride! (Free with registration: bragging rights, shameless selfies, and at least two days post-race of being able to complain about sore quads/calves.)

(Please note that if you plan to run the PwC Bermuda Marathon you should make arrangements to pick up your number on either Friday, January 17 or Saturday, January 18. There will be no number pickup on Sunday, January 19)

Amenities

Participants in the PwC Bermuda Marathon will receive a 2025 Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge technical t-shirt, a custom 2025 PwC Bermuda Marathon Finisher’s Medal, a custom finisher’s certificate, and a swag bag. In addition, everyone is invited to celebrate their accomplishments at the post-race Finish Festival in Barr’s Bay Park, featuring music, free food and snacks (including Oscar Mayer hot dogs, Nature Valley granola bars, and Haagen Dazs ice cream) courtesy of Butterfield and Vallis, locally brewed beer courtesy of Bermuda Craft Brewing, and rum cocktails courtesy of Goslings.

Please note that Bermuda Triangle Challenge participants and people that register for more than one race (e.g., the 10k and the half) will only receive one shirt.

Course Description

After departing Dockyard, runners will have the opportunity to run along the scenic, quiet Bermuda Railway Trail* for approximately 4.3 miles through Somerset and into Southampton, leaving the trail briefly to run over the iconic Somerset Bridge, the world’s smallest drawbridge. The course will pass by some of Bermuda’s most famous beaches, including Horseshoe Bay, Jobson’s Cove, and Warwick Long Bay. Runners will join the half marathon course just after mile 14 and follow the remaining 12 miles of the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon course to the finish line near Barr’s Bay Park in Hamilton.

“THANK YOU. I’ve run 817 marathons or ultramarathons and this would be among the best organized and executed of them.”

“Everyone at the water stations was so enthusiastic and encouraging. It made a real difference. I had a brilliant time running my first marathon.”

“Great marathon expo, amazing giveaways, friendly staff, great race course. I’ve already run 35 marathons in my life but this was one of the best organized. The medals are also really amazing. A big thank you!!”

“The entire course was fun to run. There was no opportunity to get bored because we were constantly seeing new things and experiencing new parts of Bermuda. A lot of marathons will say, ‘we have a 6-hour cutoff’ but the entire party will have been shut down by the time slower runners come in. I finished the marathon in 5 hours 11 minutes and it looked to me like the party was just getting started down in the park. That made me feel valued, as though the marathon was designed for everyone, not just the elites. I also didn’t realize how much stuff we got for participating in the challenge!!! That makes someone who’s traveled from far away feel like it was really worth the trip!”

Getting to the Start

A free ferry will be provided to take marathon runners from Hamilton to the Royal Naval Dockyard*. The ferry will leave from the Hamilton Ferry Terminal (see map below) at 5:30am sharp on Sunday, January 19th. The journey is about 30 minutes and the boat arrives at the Royal Naval Dockyard at 6:00am.  Runners participating in the Bermuda Marathon are encouraged to take the ferry. Please do not be late for the ferry!

If you are not planning to take the free ferry, and you wish to make your own way to the Royal Naval Dockyard, there are parking facilities there and areas to disembark from other modes of transportation (if you are coming by taxi or bus).

Also at the start village in Royal Naval Dockyard:

  • toilet facilities
  • Dasani water
  • Powerade
  • coffee and tea
  • a variety of pastries
